ROYAL STAKEOUT/CONTEMPTUOUS - Hellsplit no.2 CD (Kjell Hell)
Six tracks apiece on this two-way split from Sweden's Kjell Hell record label. Royal Stakeout are a Mohawked Punk outfit that sound to me like a slightly more Street version of Dropkick Murphys. The melodies are certainly in-line with their Boston contemporaries, but there's no Irish influence here to speak of. Not unlike what you'd expect to here on the Punk Core label. Track two, "Sweat And Blood" is notably good, but overall there's a decent array of stuff to get your teeth into in their six tunes.
Contemptuous are slightly more in the Skinhead vein of things but bare a lot of similar hallmarks to their partners on the split. The hoarse vocals of Robban sit neatly over their mid-placed Bad Religion-like backing music. Dutch band Badlands spring to mind here for some reason. Good quality work from both outfits and nice to see Punk friendly split LP making something of a return.

First up are Royal Stakeout playing melodic yet hard edged punk with the odd dash of Dropkick Murphys. The lyrics are particularly good with some cracking songs against the work ethic and Amerikkka.
Contemptuous sing mainly in Swedish but as with bands like Troublemakers & Rasta Knast etc, the tunes are so cracking that it's still a compulsive listen.
Supercatchy lead guitar driven punk. Me like.

Hellsplit nummer 2 - Royal Stakeout vs. Contemptuous (CD-KJELL HELL KJELL 005)
The other split on Kjell Hell and first out on this one is the old demogroup Royal Stakeout. Very nice 6 songs as they gives us and precisely as the other group on the record Contemptuous they have songs with Swedish lyrics.
Royal Stakeout plays easysinged(and then I mean easy to sing-along) punkrock in true streetspirit and Sweden begin to be really good at this type of music.
Contemptuous (hard and difficlut name or?) do 6 songs them too and that´s half in Swedish. I really like their style because here it´s many feelings and those sort of things I´m weak for. I love when a band really sounds like if they love the music they play. Fast punkrock is the thing we get here and check this out immediately.
